Your first match, step by step
- Walk your developer around the grid with the thumbstick and stand on the plot you want.
- Buy the land while it is cheap, then build a shop on it that matches what the local crowd came out for.
- Set your price. Cut it and the queue next door becomes your queue, but every sale earns you less.
- Upgrade a shop to raise its pull, or run a campaign to spike its popularity for a short burst.
- Watch the announcements. A metro station, a stadium or an airport is named with a ten-second countdown and no address, and the land around it doubles the moment it lands.
- Put four of your plots side by side and they merge into one mall, which pulls harder than the four shops did alone.
The five things that move a customer
- Price. The cheapest shop of its kind on the block takes the biggest share of it.
- Place. A shop near a metro station, a stadium or a busy junction is walked past far more often.
- Level. Every upgrade raises how many shoppers a shop can pull and hold.
- Popularity. A campaign lifts it fast and then it decays, so it is a weapon, not a foundation.
- Size. Four adjacent plots merge into a mall, and a mall pulls harder than its parts.
Tips that actually win matches
- Buy land early. It never gets cheaper, and the plot you skipped is the one the metro lands next to.
- Read the crowd before you build. A luxury store on a street of hungry shoppers earns almost nothing.
- Do not cut your price to zero. A price war you win at a loss still ends with an empty bank.
- Keep cash for the countdown. An announcement is only worth something if you can still afford the land.
- Merge four plots into a mall before the final rush, not during it.
- Company value is the score. A plot of land you never built on still counts, and so does the debt you took to buy it.
The last two minutes
The final rush doubles the crowd walking the city, and most matches change hands inside it. A shop that was quietly second all game can win on the last upgrade, and a leader who spent everything on land has nothing left to serve the rush with.
Plan for it from about the ten-minute mark: finish your merges, take your upgrades, and keep just enough cash to answer whatever the last announcement puts on the map.

FAQ
Can I play Mall Tycoon alone?
Yes. A solo match seats up to four AI rivals that play by exactly the same rules you do.
What are the controls?
A thumbstick to walk and three buttons. The big gold button is whatever the plot under your feet needs — buy land, build, or upgrade — with price and campaign beside it.
How do I get more customers?
Take them from someone else. The city crowd is fixed, so you win a share by cutting your price, upgrading the shop, running a campaign, or standing somewhere more people walk past.
What is the fastest way to lose?
Building the wrong shop for the street and then defending it with price cuts. You end the match busy, popular and broke.
How is the winner decided?
By company value at the final whistle: cash, land and everything you built on it. Not by cash alone.
